OUR STORY

Arlene

POV:

I was 45 minutes late to our first date. To be fair, I had every intention to be on time, even though I told him I was on my way while I was still at home getting ready.

As I’m driving to Deep Ellum, I’m recounting all of the conversations we had through text. I’m thinking to myself “I wonder how he’s going to be in person”, “will he be as funny as he was through text?”, “omg what if the vibes are off??” I finally get to the sushi restaurant, park my car, quickly touch up my lip gloss, and walk in.

Suddenly, the room becomes still, everyone blurs into the atmosphere and I’m met with a 6’3, charmingly handsome man, with kind eyes and a gentle smile. My eyes widen in terror as I realize, I parked in a fire lane. And just like that, I was back outside—on a mission to find parking that wouldn’t get my car towed. Fast forward, I’m sitting across from the man that I soon fell deeply in love with.

The date lasted 5 hours, but it felt like 30 minutes. Every moment was filled with stories, laughs, smiles, and curiosity. I said to myself “he feels familiar” but what i really meant was “he feels like home” and that he was.

Josh

POV:

As I pull up to the sushi restaurant, I receive a text saying, “I’m on my way”. So I decided to wait…for an hour. Suddenly, the door swung open and there stood the most beautiful woman I’ve ever seen.

The kind of beauty that makes time slow down. She then tells me, “I think I parked in the wrong spot”, and immediately leaves. At this point I think someone is pulling a prank on me. I waited ten more minutes and she came back. The rest of that date ended up being the best day ever.

Five years later, I still look at her in amazement; grateful that God told me not to leave, to be patient, because my future wife was about to open that door.

Our

POV:

Since we’ve met, our journey has shown us just how expansive love can be. Through long distance, school, early careers, and moving across the country, life has taught us what love looks like in different seasons. Through it all, God has been faithful in keeping our hearts patient for one another.

Along the way, life has also been fun. We’ve grown a shared passion for travel, having visited several countries, most notably Portugal, Spain, Croatia, Mexico, and London (with Ghana coming soon!). We are proud aunties and uncles to four nephews and one niece, and even prouder foodies.

Our love would not be possible without the outpouring of love that surrounds us. Our families and community have been an instrumental part of our relationship, and we are immensely grateful for their support and covering.

Please join us in celebrating the union that God has so beautifully orchestrated.
